1789 Capital is considering legal options over an ABC News report about investments linked to President Donald Trump’s sons, the firm’s spokesperson Alexa Henning told Fox News Digital in comments published Oct. 14, 2026. She said the firm’s attorneys remain involved and that it has not ruled out further action.
The dispute concerns an ABC report about investments and government contracts involving companies connected to Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. The original story said 1789 Capital, where Trump Jr. is a partner, had acquired a major stake in defense company Anduril Industries through a $2.5 billion investment. The Fox News account says that amount referred to Anduril’s overall fundraising round, while 1789 Capital’s investment was about $50 million.
ABC removed the initial story and republished a substantially revised version days later. The updated article included an editor’s note acknowledging errors related to investments, contracts and the timeline, and clarified that Trump Jr. is not on 1789 Capital’s investment decision-making committee. Fox News reported that the revised version did not provide a detailed account of the errors or apologize to the firm.
Henning said ABC had not sought comment from 1789 before publishing the original report. She also said the firm’s lawyers had contacted ABC and its parent company, Disney, and that the firm was monitoring subsequent coverage. ABC did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment, according to the report.
The account also reported that Sen. Bernie Moreno, an Ohio Republican, called for a Federal Communications Commission investigation into the report. Henning alleged the initial story was factually false; those assertions are her characterization of the dispute. The material provided does not establish whether 1789 Capital will file a lawsuit or whether the FCC will investigate.
