The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has completed 116 temporary roof installations on the island of Rota following Super Typhoon Bavi, according to the agency. The mission began Sept. 18 and was carried out with the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Rota’s mayor’s office, local officials and contractors.

USACE personnel worked with residents and partner agencies to assess storm damage, determine homeowner eligibility and select temporary roofing solutions. The agency described the installations as interim protection for eligible households as they pursue permanent repairs and continue recovery.

The Corps said all 116 installations are complete and the temporary roofing mission on Rota has ended. The roofs are not permanent repairs, and broader rebuilding is continuing in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

The account was published by the Defense Visual Information Distribution Service on Oct. 12, 2026. It did not provide details on the storm’s damage totals or the number of homes that may still need permanent repairs.
