Pacific Health Sciences is voluntarily recalling one lot of Babies’ Magic Tea brand Baby Sleep Gripe Water after federal testing found three types of alcohol not disclosed on the product label, according to a recall notice dated Oct. 6 and published by the FDA the next day.
The recall covers lot 25122bw, with a best-before date of December 2028. The product was sold in 4-ounce bottles, packaged in a blue box with an oral syringe. The lot number is printed on the box and a side panel of the bottle.
FDA testing found approximately 8.3% ethanol, 0.35% methanol and 0.48% isopropanol, the notice said. It warned that potential risk may depend on how much is consumed and the user’s age and body weight. The company said exposure to amounts recommended on the packaging could cause drowsiness, impaired coordination, behavioral changes, nausea, vomiting or abdominal pain. The notice also described more serious potential effects at higher exposure levels.
The product was distributed to Secrets of Tea and sold through online retailers, including the company’s website and Amazon. Consumers who have the affected lot should stop using it and discard it or return it to the place of purchase for a refund, according to the recall notice. The company advised people experiencing symptoms after use to seek medical attention and contact Pacific Health Sciences.
As of the notice, Pacific Health Sciences had received no reports of adverse events associated with the recalled lot. The company could not immediately be reached for comment by Fox Business.
