Green Bay beat Chicago 31-7 at Lambeau Field in a Week 5 game that included a sideline collision and an apparent attempt to trip a player, according to Fox News’ account of the broadcast and postgame comments.
Packers receiver Matthew Golden returned a punt 17 yards late in the first half before going out of bounds on the Bears’ sideline. He then collided with a Chicago coach, who fell to the ground. As Golden moved back toward the field, footage appeared to show Bears kicker Cairo Santos reaching toward him in an attempt to trip him. Santos did not bring Golden down.
Officials did not throw a flag for either incident before the half ended. Golden later acknowledged Santos’ attempt when asked about it, saying he had nothing to say to the kicker.
Golden, a first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, caught six passes for 123 yards, including a 50-yard reception, the source reported. The account also described comments by Packers linebacker Zaire Franklin criticizing Bears receiver Luther Burden III after the game.
The teams are scheduled to meet again on Christmas Day in Chicago. The source reported that after Week 5, Minnesota stood at 5-0 in the NFC North, while Green Bay, Chicago and Detroit were each 3-2.
