A bull bison struck the front-left side of a pickup truck near the Mud Volcano area of Yellowstone National Park during an early-morning drive, Cowboy State Daily reported.

The driver, Kyle Weber, told the Wyoming outlet he was traveling south from Canyon Village toward Fishing Bridge when he saw the bison standing in the road. He stopped rather than trying to pass and waited for the animal to move. The bison then charged the truck, according to the report.

Weber said the impact jolted him and estimated it pushed the vehicle backward about 18 inches. The collision reportedly dented the bumper and hood and broke a side marker light. He said he planned to replace the damaged parts but might leave the dent in the hood.

The incident took place at about 2:45 a.m. on a Thursday, the report said; the supplied account does not specify the calendar date. Fox News Digital said it had contacted Yellowstone National Park for comment, but the source material contains no response from park officials.

The account is based on reporting by Cowboy State Daily and statements attributed to Weber. No independent confirmation or official assessment of the incident is included in the supplied material.
