The Washington Commanders and New York Giants tied 27-27 on Sunday after neither team converted late opportunities in overtime. It was their second tie in three seasons, according to the source report.

Washington led by 14 points in the fourth quarter, but Giants quarterback Jameis Winston helped New York rally and force overtime. With less than two minutes remaining in the extra period, running back Cam Skattebo fumbled as the Giants tried to manage the clock. Washington recovered near midfield.

Quarterback Jayden Daniels moved the Commanders to the Giants’ 24-yard line with 12 seconds left. Washington had no timeouts. Daniels scrambled for no gain, and the team was unable to stop the clock before time expired, ending its chance to attempt a field goal.

Skattebo said after the game that he was responsible for protecting the ball. Commanders coach Dan Quinn also took responsibility for the final sequence, saying it was not Daniels’ fault and that Washington should not have put him in that situation. Daniels said the responsibility belonged to the offense as a whole and ultimately to him.

The result came after both teams had opportunities to win and several missed field goals, the report said. Neither the Giants nor the Commanders took advantage of other NFC East teams’ losses earlier in the week.
