Country singer Eric Church said former NFL quarterback Eli Manning needed help holding fish during a fishing trip at Church’s property outside Nashville about six months before Church appeared with Randy Moss on the YouTube series “Chasing 10.”
In the episode, Church told Moss he had to hold the fish for Manning, a two-time Super Bowl champion. Church compared the experience to handing a child a fish for a photo. Manning was not present to respond to the story, so the account rests on Church’s recollection.
Church and Moss also fished during the episode. According to the source, Church caught a bass weighing 6.7 pounds, and the pair caught additional fish, including one they estimated at nearly 8 pounds. They did not land a bass weighing 10 pounds or more during the outing.
Church said his property has several lakes and that he has caught four bass weighing at least 10 pounds there, including a personal-best 11.2-pound fish. Moss had previously caught a 10-pound bass on the series.
“Chasing 10” follows Moss fishing with athletes and other public figures. The source says the show supports the Children’s Cancer Research Fund through a raffle of the boat used in the series.
