A waterfront estate in Golden Beach, Florida, sold in September for $69.5 million, a record price for the community, according to Fox News Digital. The 17,500-square-foot property is at 255 Ocean Boulevard.
Property records reviewed by Fox News Digital name Delaware-based Meridian Coast LLC as the purchaser. The Real Deal, citing people familiar with the transaction, reported that the company is connected to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. The available information does not establish that Bezos personally bought the home, and the report presents the connection as unconfirmed.
The sale has drawn attention because Golden Beach is near Indian Creek Island, the guarded South Florida enclave sometimes called the “Billionaire Bunker.” Bezos already owns property on Indian Creek, according to the report. It says his holdings there total $234 million. If he were confirmed as the Golden Beach buyer, the new property would add a distinct kind of waterfront home to that portfolio.
Devin Kay, of The Exclusive Group at Douglas Elliman, told Fox News Digital he could not say whether Bezos was involved. Kay said a Golden Beach purchase could make sense for someone with an existing Indian Creek property because the locations offer different settings and uses. He also cautioned that prominent names are often associated with high-profile sales when the buyer’s identity is shielded, and noted that South Florida has a broader pool of wealthy prospective buyers.
Jordan Karp, identified in the report as a Miami real estate agent, described the purchase as an example of buyers seeking different properties for living, entertaining or occasional use. He said Golden Beach offers oceanfront homes directly on the sand, while Kay distinguished that access from waterfront property on Biscayne Bay.
Both agents pointed to limited supply as a reason for the area’s appeal. Karp said the oceanfront strip has about 60 homes and that some buyers acquire neighboring lots to create larger properties. He characterized the land as scarce and said demand is concentrated on the oceanfront. Kay likewise said the number of single-family oceanfront parcels is limited and difficult to replace.
Golden Beach has historically been a quieter, family-oriented community, the report said. It has its own municipal police force and zoning rules that prevent high-rise development. Kay said sales in the $50 million to nearly $70 million range have changed how the market views the neighborhood, while arguing that its underlying appeal comes from the land itself and the growing concentration of wealth in South Florida.
Karp said transactions at this price level can involve family offices, wealth managers and attorneys, with confidentiality important to buyers and sellers. Kay also described privacy, timing and reliable execution as considerations in high-end deals. These are the agents’ observations about the market, rather than confirmation of the identity of the buyer in this sale.
Douglas Elliman’s Dina Goldentayer represented the seller, and Jill Eber and Hillary Hertzberg of Coldwell Banker Realty’s Jills Zeder Group represented the buyer, according to Fox News Digital. The report said neither Goldentayer nor the buyer’s representatives had immediately responded to requests for comment.
