Twitch streamer Hasan Piker discussed his wealth and socialist politics in a Sunday interview with comedian Ziwe, who is known for asking guests provocative questions.

When Ziwe asked whether Piker had always wanted to be a “champagne socialist,” he answered yes. She also questioned him about attending Oscar parties and his reported $2.7 million California home. Piker confirmed the home’s price and said he has a mortgage rather than having paid cash. He told Ziwe he believes housing should be free and said he does not consider his needs more important than other people’s.

Ziwe challenged Piker over whether he profits from discussing progressive politics. He said his operation is a cooperative with equal say and pay, and that he does not run ads. He added that his merchandise is made with union labor and American manufacturers. Those claims were made by Piker during the interview.

Piker also discussed seeing Amazon founder Jeff Bezos at Vanity Fair’s Oscar party. In a separate interview cited by Fox News, he said he tried to avoid Bezos, noting that Amazon owns Twitch, where Piker streams.

Christian Toto, editor of Hollywood in Toto, criticized Ziwe’s handling of the interview in a statement to Fox News Digital, arguing that she should have pressed Piker more on his past comments while praising her questions about his wealth.

The Fox News report also referenced Piker’s appearances with Democrats campaigning in the November midterm elections and a separate Axios interview in which he compared U.S. conduct abroad with al-Qaeda’s. The source did not provide additional context for that comparison.
