Actress Jana Kramer said the cost of living in Los Angeles made it difficult to provide the kind of home and neighborhood she wanted for her children. In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, she described living in Studio City with two children and said the family could not afford a larger home with a bigger yard in the neighborhoods she had in mind.
Kramer said moving to Nashville, Tennessee, has allowed her children to experience aspects of the childhood she remembers from growing up in Michigan. She recalled spending time outdoors in her neighborhood, visiting friends’ homes and playing until sunset. Seeing her children ride bikes and spend time with friends in Tennessee, she said, feels familiar and brings her happiness.
She described Tennessee as a place where she feels calm, and said she appreciates being able to raise her children in a setting that reflects her own upbringing. Kramer acknowledged that many families raise children in Los Angeles and said that works well for them, but she enjoys the different lifestyle she has found in Tennessee.
Kramer also said moving away from Los Angeles does not mean she has to give up opportunities in Hollywood. She pointed to self-taped auditions as one change in the industry, though she said she does not like that process, and noted that travel makes it possible to return for work.
The actress has two children, Jolie and Jace, with her former husband, Mike Caussin, and a son, Roman, with her husband, Allan Russell.
The interview also covered Kramer’s new film, “The One.” The story centers on an 18-year-old who faces homelessness after aging out of the foster care system. Kramer said she was drawn to the complicated story and its faith element, which she described as present without overwhelming the film. She also said the story had emotional weight and that she wanted to help tell it.
Kramer said the film highlights the insecurity young people can face when they lack a stable home. She described it as heartbreaking to consider children not feeling safe or moving between placements, and connected that concern to her own feelings as a parent. Her comments were about the film’s subject and her reaction to its portrayal; the interview did not provide broader data about foster care placements or youth homelessness.
“The One” was scheduled to open in theaters nationwide on Nov. 5, according to the source report, which said the release coincides with national homeless youth awareness month. The source did not specify a year for the listed release date.
