Judy Sheindlin defended her recent remarks about America in an interview with Fox News Digital, saying she had not described the country as perfect and believes it can be improved without abandoning its founding principles.

Sheindlin’s comments followed a viral exchange with USA Today last month in which she said people who dislike the country should consider living elsewhere. The remarks drew criticism on ABC’s “The View.” Co-hosts Sunny Hostin and Ana Navarro objected, while Sara Haines and Alyssa Farah Griffin defended Sheindlin, according to the source report.

Sheindlin said she intended “my country” to refer to America as the home of all Americans, not to claim it belonged only to her. She said criticism of her position was acceptable, but argued that improving the country was different from fundamentally changing its economic system. She described the United States as capitalist and said she opposed a shift to socialism.

Sheindlin also said that online criticism can become mean-spirited and that name-calling does not address the substance of her comments. Asked about Navarro’s reaction, she said it would take more than Navarro to silence her.

The interview also touched on Sheindlin’s television career. Her special, “Judge Judy: Unfiltered, Unforgettable,” aired on CBS in late September, the report said. She praised her son, Judge Adam Levy, and his work on “Adam’s Law.”
