Keri Russell discussed her relationship with longtime partner Matthew Rhys during an appearance on Chelsea Handler’s “Dear Chelsea” podcast, according to Fox News.

Russell said the pair grew close while filming the early seasons of “The Americans.” She described their early romance as exciting and private, recalling long nights together and disguises worn while working on the show.

The actors had met briefly before reconnecting in 2012 for the series. Their relationship became public in 2014. They share a son, Sam, born in 2016. Russell also has two children, River and Willa, from her previous marriage to Shane Deary.

Asked about marriage, Russell said she sees no need to marry Rhys. She noted that they already have a life together and share a child, and described marriage as somewhat antiquated. The couple have been together for more than a decade, the report said.

Russell also addressed Rhys not mentioning her in recent Emmy acceptance speeches. She said she had told him he did not need to thank her, adding that they had agreed they were not obligated to acknowledge each other in speeches.

Russell is promoting the fourth season of “The Diplomat,” in which she plays U.S. Ambassador Kate Wyler, according to the report.
