Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, the New York City Republican in the House, said Speaker Mike Johnson should consider whether two Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) candidates who won New York congressional primaries should have access to sensitive intelligence information if they take office next year.

Malliotakis told Fox News Digital that she is concerned about the candidates’ positions and urged Johnson to assess whether they pose a national security concern. She also said that if Republicans retain or win the House majority in November, their committee assignments should be considered.

Darializa Avila Chevalier defeated Rep. Adriano Espaillat in a Democratic primary for a district covering parts of Upper Manhattan and the Bronx. In another contest, New York State Assemblywoman Claire Valdez won the Democratic primary for an open district in Brooklyn and Queens. The source describes both districts as strongly Democratic and says the candidates are virtually assured of winning their November general elections; the election outcomes had not occurred at the time of the report.

Fox News Digital reported that Chevalier and Valdez have called for abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement and described Israel’s war in Gaza as genocide. Malliotakis criticized their political views and said she did not see common ground with them. The source also cites a past social-media post attributed to Chevalier about wiping her hand on an American flag after forgetting napkins.

The candidates’ campaigns did not respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment, the outlet reported. Malliotakis’s remarks are her assessment; the report does not provide an independent finding that either candidate presents a security threat or establish that their committee assignments or intelligence access have been restricted.
