A Michael Jordan jersey worn during the 1998 NBA Finals has sold for $14 million in a private sale, making it the highest-priced basketball memorabilia item, according to Fox News and Hunt Auctions.

Hunt Auctions announced the sale on October 12, 2026, and identified the buyer as Miami real estate investor Ron Firman. The red Chicago Bulls jersey was worn during Game 2 against the Utah Jazz on June 5, 1998. The Bulls won that game to even the series, then went on to claim their sixth NBA championship in eight seasons.

Hunt Auctions said the jersey was initially purchased from the Bulls by a private collector in 2003 and has changed hands once since then. Firman said he was excited about the purchase.

The reported price places the jersey second among known sales of game-worn jerseys across all sports, behind Babe Ruth’s 1932 World Series jersey, which sold for $24.12 million in 2024. It also marks the third jersey from the 1998 Finals to sell for at least $10 million: Jordan’s Game 1 jersey reportedly sold for about $10.1 million in 2022, and his Game 3 jersey brought in about $12.3 million the previous month.

In 2023, Jordan’s game-worn sneakers from Game 2 of the same Finals sold for $2.2 million through Sotheby’s, according to the report. The $14 million transaction was described as a private sale; the source does not provide further details about its terms.
