Michigan brothers Chad and James Hampton say hunting is about more than filling their freezers: They see harvesting and eating deer as part of their Christian faith and responsibility for caring for creation.
The pastors and outdoorsmen, who founded Huntin’ the Truth Ministries and host the outdoor program “Twin Factor,” hunt during the season and use the venison for family meals. Chad Hampton told Fox News Digital that he views food as something God has provided for people to manage and consume. The brothers cite Genesis 1:26 in explaining their understanding of stewardship.
Their book, “100 Days of Strength for Hunters,” brings together Scripture, hunting stories, practical reflections and prayer. They describe it as a devotional intended to help outdoorsmen develop their relationship with God.
The brothers also connect hunting with knowing where food comes from, while acknowledging that busy schedules can lead them to eat fast food. Chad Hampton contrasted those meals with venison cooked slowly, and James Hampton said they eat what they harvest.
The ministry’s origins trace, in part, to a difficult period in 2004, when James Hampton said he prayed from a tree stand as his wife battled cancer. He recalled that experience as helping inspire the brothers’ work encouraging people to seek God’s plan for their lives.
The account reflects the brothers’ personal religious convictions and experiences; it does not establish broader claims about hunting, nutrition or the effects of eating wild game.
