Rigoberto Chavez-Regaldo, 40, was arrested on Nantucket, Massachusetts, on Oct. 8 in a multi-agency operation, the U.S. Marshals Service said. Authorities allege the case involves trafficking minors and other sexual offenses.

The charges listed by the agency include trafficking a person for sexual servitude, aggravated statutory rape of a child, rape of a child with force, and enticing a child under 16. He also faces charges including sexual conduct for a fee, aggravated rape causing serious bodily injury, indecent assault and battery on a person over 14, and providing liquor to someone under 21. The allegations have not been established in court.

Chavez-Regaldo was arraigned and ordered held without bail, according to the source report. The detention decision is to be reconsidered at a dangerousness hearing scheduled for Tuesday; the report did not specify the hearing date.

The Marshals Service said further details would not be released to protect the identities of minor victims. The operation involved the U.S. Marshals Service, Brockton Police, Massachusetts State Police units and Nantucket Police.

The report quoted Dennis Matulewicz, head of the Marshals Service for the District of Massachusetts, describing the allegations as especially serious and crediting cooperation among law enforcement agencies. No additional case details were provided.
