Damon Foy, 50, of Kerhonkson, New York, pleaded guilty last week to second-degree murder in the 2024 killing of Alberta Dale, 44, of Pennsylvania, according to the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office.

Prosecutors said Foy killed and dismembered Dale between March 31 and April 1, 2024. Authorities began investigating after Dale’s relatives contacted law enforcement with concerns about her welfare. The investigation shifted to a missing-person case after an initial welfare check.

According to court records cited by the New York Post, investigators returned to Foy’s residence after Dale’s phone was found beside a road and turned over to authorities. Foy reportedly told investigators, “I killed her.” A search of his home found a suitcase containing some of Dale’s remains, including her head, the records said. The remaining portions of her body were not found during the search.

Foy told investigators that he had loved Dale, but also complained that she had treated him unfairly, according to the records. The source reports that court documents described previous domestic violence involving the couple and said Dale had warned authorities that Foy might kill her if she went missing.

Under the plea agreement, Foy is expected to be sentenced to 23 years to life in prison. Assistant District Attorney Liz Culmone-Mills told the Daily Freeman that prosecutors supported the agreement at the request of Dale’s family. Foy is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 16.

District Attorney Emmanuel C. Nneji said the case underscored the dangers faced by victims of domestic violence. The reported events occurred in 2024; the guilty plea and anticipated sentence were reported on Oct. 13, 2026.
