Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio) has asked the Federal Communications Commission to investigate ABC News over a report about investments involving President Donald Trump’s sons and defense contractor Anduril Industries.

In a letter to FCC Chairman Brendan Carr, Moreno questioned whether the network’s reporting violated its obligations as a broadcaster. He also alleged the original story was false and called for the commission to determine who approved it. Those are Moreno’s claims; the source material does not report that the FCC has opened an investigation.

ABC News removed its initial report and published a substantially revised version on Friday, according to the source. The original article said companies connected to the president’s sons had obtained billions of dollars in government contracts, including through 1789 Capital, where Donald Trump Jr. is a partner.

The revised report acknowledged errors concerning investments, government contracts and the chronology of events. It clarified that a $2.5 billion figure referred to Anduril’s broader fundraising round, while 1789 Capital’s investment was about $50 million. It also said Trump Jr. is not on the firm’s investment decision-making committee.

Moreno cited Anduril’s planned Arsenal-1 manufacturing facility in Ohio, for which the company has announced plans to invest nearly $1 billion and which is expected to create more than 4,000 jobs. He argued that the reporting could undermine the project and affect workers. The source does not establish that the report caused harm to the project or put jobs at risk.

The request comes amid a separate dispute between Disney and the FCC over an early review of licenses held by ABC-owned stations. Disney has argued that the review threatens editorial independence; the FCC has described its actions as regulatory oversight. ABC told Fox News it had reviewed the matter and would not comment further. The FCC did not immediately respond to Fox News’ inquiry.
