Oklahoma County deputies said a copper-theft suspect fled through a closed window during a burglary response on Oct. 1, but left behind a backpack containing identification that helped investigators track him down.

According to information accompanying body-camera footage released by the sheriff’s office, deputies went to a vacant home on Sunset Lane after a report of a burglary in progress. A deputy found Rayven Lee Wooten, 24, of Nicoma Park, inside the residence. Authorities allege he was taking copper wire from a dishwasher.

The footage shows the deputy ordering Wooten to remove his hands from his pockets, turn around and kneel. The deputy warned that Wooten could be shot if he did not comply. Instead, Wooten ran through the kitchen and plunged headfirst through a closed window into the living room, the account says. The deputy then radioed that Wooten had escaped on foot.

Deputies said Wooten initially got away. However, he left a backpack at the house with his driver’s license inside, providing investigators with information to identify and locate him, according to the sheriff’s office.

The agency posted the video with a joking caption about the suspect’s attempted escape. The footage also drew online comments about the deputy’s reaction and the identification left at the scene. Those comments are viewers’ responses, not evidence about the alleged offenses.

Authorities said Wooten faces charges of burglary, resisting arrest and obstructing an officer. The supplied account does not provide details about a court appearance, a plea, or the status of the charges. The allegations have not been presented here as a finding of guilt.
