Anti-war protesters interrupted Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth several times during a panel at the Association of the United States Army’s annual conference in Washington on Oct. 14, Fox News reported.
The demonstrators shouted insults and criticized the Iran war, according to the report. Hegseth initially responded with jokes and later described the interruptions as a possible tactic. Security personnel escorted protesters from the room; the report said one woman was carried out by multiple officers while continuing to shout.
The panel included acting Army Secretary Adam Telle, acting Navy Secretary Hung Cao, Air Force Secretary Troy Meink and Assistant Secretary for Special Operations and Low-Intensity Conflict Derrick Evans. The discussion concerned Project Agincourt, a Pentagon effort to speed development and deployment of autonomous weapons and other military systems, Fox News reported.
The source said it was unclear how the protesters obtained credentials to attend the event. It did not identify the demonstrators or provide an account from event organizers.
