Sen. Roger Marshall’s campaign has paid a bakery invoice from 2020 after the business owner publicly said she had been unable to collect for cookies and other treats ordered for a campaign watch party.
Holly Thomas, the bakery’s founder, posted about the unpaid $678.75 bill on Facebook on Oct. 8. She said she had made repeated efforts to collect payment after the order but received no response. Thomas also shared an image of the invoice and a photo of custom cookies.
Marshall addressed the complaint on X two days later. He said his team did not know how the bill had gone unpaid and that it attempted to contact the business to apologize after learning about the post. Marshall said the campaign had repaid the bill “double,” and shared a screenshot showing a $1,300 payment, according to the report.
Thomas subsequently confirmed the payment in a Facebook post, writing that the invoice could finally be marked paid.
The order was placed while Marshall was serving in the House and campaigning for the Senate in 2020. He is seeking re-election this year, according to the source.
