Rep. María Elvira Salazar is highlighting an endorsement from Abelardo de la Espriella as she campaigns for re-election to Congress, according to a report published Oct. 13, 2026.

Salazar, a Florida Republican, shared a video on X in which de la Espriella praises her in Spanish. In her post, she described him as a friend and said representing Colombians in South Florida keeps Colombia among her priorities in Congress.

The source reports that de la Espriella is a Colombian American citizen who owns property in Salazar’s congressional district. It also cites NBC News reporting that he and his wife previously gave nearly $90,000 to Salazar.

Salazar endorsed de la Espriella in his election campaign earlier this year, the report said. She has served in the House since early 2021 and is seeking another term against Democratic challenger Eliott Rodriguez.
