Stellantis is recalling 265,512 Ram ProMaster vans after federal regulators identified a potential problem with the vehicles’ electric power steering systems, according to a recall notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The notice was reported by Fox Business on October 8, 2026.
The recall covers certain 2022–2026 Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 ProMaster vans, along with certain 2024–2026 Ram 3500 EV ProMasters. NHTSA says water may enter the electric power steering wiring harness, potentially damaging the wiring and causing drivers to lose power steering assistance. The agency says drivers may not receive a warning before assistance is lost and that the defect could increase crash risk.
Stellantis spokesperson Frank Matyok told Fox News Digital that the company is aware of one accident associated with the issue and that no injuries were reported.
Dealers will inspect the affected vehicles and, when necessary, replace the wiring harness and electric power steering gear at no cost, according to the report. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were expected to be mailed beginning November 17, 2026. Further notices are planned once a final remedy is available.
Owners can check the NHTSA recall notice or contact a Ram dealer for information about whether a specific vehicle is included and what service is required.
