Stephen A. Smith apologized to former NBA player Iman Shumpert and singer Teyana Taylor after acknowledging that he made inaccurate claims about their divorce on an episode of “The Culture Table,” according to Fox News’ OutKick report published Oct. 13, 2026.

On his own podcast, Smith said he had claimed Taylor received $25 million, properties and other assets in the divorce, while Shumpert was left with about $2 million and nowhere to live. Smith said those statements were inaccurate and apologized to both. He also said he had relied on false quotes attributed to Shumpert, and that he apologized to the pair personally.

Smith said his company, Straight Shooter Media, had not met its responsibility to ensure information was properly sourced. He also expressed regret that the segment may have suggested Shumpert had publicly insulted Taylor, the mother of his children. Smith said the episode was taken down at his request.

The apology followed separate apologies Smith made after comments about former Philadelphia Eagles lineman Lane Johnson’s decision to retire during the 2026 season and focus on his mental health. The source report says Smith later apologized on his podcast and on ESPN’s “First Take.”
