Three men have been convicted in the killings of Australian brothers Callum and Jake Robinson and their American friend Carter Rhoad, who disappeared during a surfing trip in Baja California in April 2024, according to The Associated Press and the licensed report.

A judge in Ensenada found Jesús Gerardo García, also known as “El Kekas,” Irineo Francisco “N” and Ángel Jesús “N” guilty of murder, armed robbery and armed carjacking. The judge is scheduled to announce their sentences Oct. 16. Prosecutors are seeking 210 years in prison for each man, the report said.

The verdict followed a month-long trial. Ary Gisell Silva Raya, García’s former partner, testified that García told her he approached the surfers’ tent with a 9mm pistol. She said the men tried to stop the attack by throwing belongings toward him and that one pleaded for his life. García ignored the plea, according to her testimony as summarized in the report.

The friends had traveled to the Punta San Jose area, about 50 miles from Ensenada, and were reported missing. Their bodies were found in a well on May 3, 2024. Authorities said the killings followed an attempted theft of tires from the victims’ pickup truck, with the surfers encountering the thieves during the robbery attempt.

Silva Raya pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery with violence and vehicle theft with violence and was sentenced to 20 years in prison in November 2025. García and the other two defendants stood trial.

The Robinson family welcomed the verdict as a step toward justice, according to the AP. Their father, Martin Robinson, said the decision could not reverse the loss but marked a significant moment in the family’s pursuit of justice.
