First Lieutenants Andrew Hoffman and Goeun Crabtree, both former enlisted combat medics, graduated Oct. 2 from the Interservice Physician Assistant Program at Irwin Army Community Hospital, according to Defense News’ licensed source material. They received commissions and Master of Physician Assistant Studies degrees.

The two officers completed a 13-month Phase II clinical rotation at the hospital. The Army says the training prepares physician assistants to work independently in settings where a physician may not be immediately available.

In their new roles, Hoffman and Crabtree are expected to provide clinical care, advise commanders on medical readiness and mentor junior combat medics. The Army describes those duties as supporting units’ preparation to train and deploy.

The source material did not provide further details about the officers’ assignments or future postings.
